Education

Schools are places of possibilities – for learning, for growing, for understanding. Quality education is the heritage of Mayville-Portland. From early in our history, when the first settlers created Bruflat Academy, to today with Mayville State University and the May-Port CG public schools providing a safe, nurturing environment and an excellent education.

Elementary and High School

May-Port CG Public Schools  - A Commitment to Excellence
Mayville and Portland partner with nearby Clifford and Galesburg, North Dakota, for K-12 education. The result is a school district with about 620 students and 70 faculty and staff. Kids get all the possibilities of academics, athletics, music, speech, debate, and more! Mayville-Portland residents invest in their region’s future by providing solid education for their children and young adults. Residents are committed to a strong public school system for their children and have built advanced educational facilities for elementary, middle, and high school students.

University

Mayville State University - Emphasizing Technology

Mayville State University is the nation’s first Tablet PC university and integrates cutting-edge technology into student experience. The dedicated faculty and staff create a family-like campus where students get great instruction with small class sizes and individual attention. The University offers bachelor degrees to more than 700 students of all ages.

As a Tablet PC university, MaSU provides all students with Tablet computers. Technology is emphasized throughout the curriculum, making Mayville State University a leader in providing students, faculty, and staff with tools for our technology-driven economy.

The Mayville State University campus is home to the Traill County Technology Center for start-up and satellite businesses. Companies from the business incubator often hire students as highly skilled part-time workers, providing them with real-life experience. The University also partners with economic development agencies and area businesses to provide customized workforce training on campus or at the business.

Some of the campus buildings date back to the University's founding in 1889, yet all classrooms and dormitories are fully wired so that every student can be online in class or at home. Mayville State University has a private college feel that invites community residents for a morning jog or an evening stroll.
