Health Care

Health care services are important when you’re considering
a hometown. In an emergency, Union Hospital is there as a
critical-access hospital that serves Western Traill and Steele

counties. With three physicians, a DNP (Doctor of
Nursing Practice), and several associate and consulting
doctors delivering quality health care at the
25-bed facility,
Union Hospital was recently
ranked as one of the top
100 rural hospitals
in the country.

Mayville-Portland also has a MeritCare Clinic.
As part of one of the largest medical facilities in the upper
Midwest, the MeritCare Clinic in Mayville provides noncritical
and wellness care with access to specialists within the
MeritCare system headquartered in Fargo, North Dakota.

In addition to Union Hospital and MeritCare Clinic, Mayville-Portland has several private practices in the areas of:
•    Chiropractic (Omdalen Chiropractic)

•    Optometry (Rexine Family Eyecare)
•    Dentistry (Goose River Dental Associates)

•    Massage therapy
•    Home health care and Hospice

•    Mental health
•    Public health
•    Ambulance and EMT (West Traill Ambulance)
•    Rural health education network

Plus, Mayville-Portland serves the needs of older people with the Luther Memorial Home. A 99-bed skilled-nursing home that includes an 18-bed memory care unit, Luther Memorial Home provides health services in a residential setting. The attached Sun Center, an independent living facility, includes call buttons to Luther Memorial Home.
