The community also has a 2.5 mile walking/bike trail that runs from Island Park in Mayville to the east edge of Portland.
Island Park
Island Park is located on North Dakota Highway 200 in Mayville. As the name implies, the park is mostly surrounded by water from an oxbow of the Goose River. It has sheltered and open picnic areas to accommodate hundreds (or just a few) and a playground. A beautiful bridge connects it with the streets and sidewalks of Mayville. To reserve a picnic shelter for your group or event, call Jeremy at 701-430-7177 after 5pm, please leave a message if no answer.
A major event in September is the annual Cruise to the Island car show, which brings more than 300 classic cars from local car clubs.
